Father’s Day

The history of Father’s Day, last-minute gift ideas, and honoring our Dads!

Father’s Day is this Sunday!

Did you know that Father’s Day wasn’t a National Holiday until 1972? (If you want to learn more interesting things about the history of Father’s Day, check out this from the History Channel.

The comedian Steve Martin once said, “A Father carries pictures where his money used to be.”  While it’s true that we carry our pictures on our phones and in the cloud these days, the main point is still funny and accurate!

Those that have become parents know that we could never repay our Fathers for everything they’ve done for us.  And that’s a good thing because some Dads are hard to shop for!  If you’re still thinking about a gift, but not sure what to get the Dad in your life?  Here are some great last-minute possibilities.

More important than gifts though, let’s find time this weekend to honor our Dads by simply making sure we tell them what they mean to us and how important they are to our family.  If you have or had a great Dad, would you consider commenting below on something you’re thankful for in regard to your Father, or a favorite memory?  Thanks in advance for sharing, and Happy Father’s Day!
